HISTORY

SHA 80th Anniversary - History - Pineview Hills

February 27, 1975 – Completion of the state’s first Homeownership Program.

May 5, 1976 – Section 8 program started.

SHA 80th Anniversary - History - Scattered Sites

November 30, 1976 – SC 3-11 Scattered Sites project opens.

August 1981 – New Section 8 construction begins.

March 31, 1982 – Frank M. Gooch Apartments, Louvenia D. Barksdale Apartments, and Ellen C. Watson Apartments opens.

October 31, 1985 – Spruce Street Apartments and Leland Street Apartments opens.

DID YOU KNOW?

HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER: There are approximately 3,000 families on our Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list and 11,163 families on the Project Based Voucher waiting list. The estimated wait time is approximately one to two years for HCV and two to three years for PBV. Our Housing Choice Voucher Program currently serves over 2,300 families.

CONVENTIONAL PUBLIC HOUSING: There are approximately 3,528 families on our site-based public housing lists. The estimated wait time is one to three years. Our public housing program currently serves over 637 families.
